Roll the die and race four tokens once around the track and home. Roll a 6 to launch a token — and roll again. Land on an opponent’s token to send it back to the start.
It descends from the Indian game Pachisi. The Mughal emperor Akbar is said to have turned a palace courtyard into a giant board and used courtiers as living pieces. It spread worldwide, and Japan’s sugoroku is a distant cousin.
Use the safe squares and travel in pairs. Rest on safe squares, and never leave a lone token within six of an opponent. Capturing comes first — it costs them a full lap.
