Flank and flip. Whoever takes the corners takes the game.
Trap a line of enemy discs between two of yours and they all flip to your colour. Most discs at the end wins. Played on an 8×8 board — a staple everywhere in the world.
It began as Reversi in 19th-century England. The modern rules spread from Mito, Japan, after the war, and a world championship followed. As the saying goes: a minute to learn, a lifetime to master.
Do not take too many discs. Take few on purpose early on to shrink the moves available to your opponent. The four corners can never be flipped — they are the strongest squares. The diagonal square next to a corner is the danger zone that hands it over.
